Is Lactation Possible From The Clogged Milk Duct?

Has anyone ever been successful nursing years after an I and D procedure due to a subareolar abscess? When I had my son, I had the surgery and the incision was left open. Milk leaked for about 6 weeks and finally I dried up on that side. I continued nursing on the good side for 13 months until I weaned.now I am pregnant pregnant again and I just worry I may not be able to nurse on the bad aide. Maybe the ducts reroute?

Hello,

In my opinion, you should try to feed the baby from the bad side as well, since it has been years since the incision and drainage of that abscess. Some of the ducts may still be blocked but not all of them. It might be difficult in the beginning but warm showers, regular massaging will help. The amount of milk from this side might not be as good as that from the other side but with daily massaging it could improve.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
