Is It Safe To Use A Standard Moisturiser Around The Genital Area?

Is it safe to use a standard moisturiser such as nivea moisturiser around the genital area as I m diabetic and with the weather been fairly hot and me having a cold I tend to sweat a fair bit and have what I think is a sweat rash under the penis close to the testicals, but don t really want to use a cream like canasten due to it being a steroid cream as I sometimes get bad reactions to steroid creams if used to much

Hi,

Canesten cream is not a steroid, rather it is an antifungal cream. Fungus infection may be present more often in diabetic as well as it may be frequent in areas of body where, sweating is more. In your case, it may be fungal infection or an allergy to sweat. Therefore you may try a cream consisting of antifungal as well as topical steroid. If still the problem persists, you are advised to see a dermatologist for proper diagnosis & treatment accordingly. You can use any standard moisturizer in the area, if you feel a dryness of the area.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
