I am married for 19 days now and since then I had taken two kinds of antibiotic medicine for infections and now I m still having the third antibiotic which causes me yeast so I m now taking monistat 7. today I took a pregnancy test and the result was pregnant . my question is : should I stop taking the antibiotic and the monistat or is it ok? does it affect my coming baby in any way?
Hello dear Understand your concern Monistat is not safe during pregnancy. It is category C drug means harmful to pregnancy and lead to defect in the fetus. As you had positive pregnancy test, you have to stop the monistat. You have to consult the gynecologist and get the examination done and take proper treatment. Gynecologist will prescribed local clotrimazole and lactose suppository. Avoid excessive sugar in diet, maintain pelvic hygiene by using V vaginal plus wash. Hope this may help you Best regards Dr. Sagar
