Is It Safe To Take Tablets Before And After Molar Extraction While Having Diverticulitis?

I. I had a back molar tooth extracted on Thursday. I was told to take 4 tablets I hour before extraction and then two tablets 1 hour after the procedure. In the next two days I was to take 3 tablets a day. I took the tablets yesterday. I then found out that this can be a problem if you have diverticulitis. Should I take anymore. What can it do to your diverticulitis. Mine is quite significant. What could it do to the diverticulitis. Should I try to contact my doctor

Hi

I have gone through your query.

Most medications would not affect diverticulitis. This is more true if the doctor did a thorough job of taking your medical history. In case this history was not taken, do not take any medication or do any treatment.

Based on what you have described, it seems like you would be using antibiotics. Most antibiotics cannot cause further infection or increase the infection in the diverticula.

Please do contact your doctor as soon as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Vignan Rachabattuni
