Hi,

Of course, your fasting sugar level is slightly higher, and after meals/snacks, it is normal. So, definitely, you should be observed thru out pregnancy for your sugar levels and it should be maintained to very close desired levels during the pregnancy.

Still, I see, that you should go for a glucose challenge test or glucose tolerance test also, to see, if you are having gestational diabetes or not. To maintain the normal levels of sugar during pregnancy are of utmost importance for your health as well as for the well being of fetus and also preventing diabetes related complications of pregnancy and delivery.

For, the time being, as you are having a borderline gestational diabetes, hence you can try to control it by an healthy life style like taking a diet of more protein and fibers, and avoiding heavy fatty foods and refined carbohydrates like sweets etc. Use of fresh fruits and vegetables are recommended during the pregnancy. Proper weight maintenance by properly structured exercises is also needed.

However, if the sugar levels are not controlled by life style changes, then you are always advised to go for medical treatment under guidance of your doctor, who may see risks vs benefits in this situation and may make a treatment protocol for you.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
