Is It Safe To Take Tamoxifen,Synthroid And Crestor At The Same Time?

I am currently on Tamoxifen, synthroid, and crestor. I also take 2000 units of vitamin D and Omega 3. For the past few weeks I have been extremely tired, and more gassy then normal. I am wondering if it would help for me to do a kidney and liver cleanse. I am 52, years old and did Chemo for breast Cancer in 2008

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Food or drugs may decrease the efficacy of Synthroid if taken together at the same time. Hence, it is not safe to take these medications all together at the same time. The presence of food and drugs decrease the absorption of Synthroid. Hence, synthroid should always be taken on an empty stomach 1 hour before breakfast or any meal of the day to avoid large fluctuations in blood levels, which may alter its effects. Avoid taking Tamoxifen, Crestor, vitamin D and omega-3 within 4 hours before or 4 hours after you have taken Synthroid.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
