Hi Doctor, I was advised to take PERCIN antibiatic (Prulufloxacin 600 mg) for my cough problem. As per atical seen currently undergoing clinical trials prior to a possible NDA (New Drug Application) submission to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Is this safe to take?

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Yes, you are right about this drug. This drug belongs to flouroquinolone group of antibiotic. It is not yet US FDA approved.
So one can not sure about its safety.
But better to avoid it because similar kind of safer antibiotic is available like ciprofloxacin or levofloxacin.
So better to replace prulufloxacin with US FDA approved drugs like levofloxacin or ciprofloxacin.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
