General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is not uncommon for prednisone, a steroid medication commonly used to treat a variety of conditions, to cause elevated blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia). This is because prednisone can cause insulin resistance, which can make it more difficult for your body to control blood sugar levels.

Humalog (insulin lispro) is a type of insulin that is often used to manage high blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. It is generally safe to take Humalog along with prednisone to control blood sugar levels. However, the dose of insulin and timing of administration may need to be adjusted to account for the effects of prednisone on blood sugar levels.

If your blood sugar levels remain high despite taking Humalog and prednisone, it is important to keep in touch with your caring doctor. They may recommend adjusting your medication doses or considering other treatment options.

Additionally, if you are feeling ill with the flu and are taking clindamycin, it is important to keep in close contact with your caring doctor to monitor your symptoms and any potential medication interactions.
