Is It Safe To Take Duphaston During Pregnancy To Avoid Miscarriage?

Hi, this morning i found that i am pregnant with my second baby. My last period was on the 7th June. In my first pregnancy i took duphaston as my progesterone levels used to lower so preventing a miscarriage. In this pregnancy should i take it as well? And when should i start pls?

Hello, I really appreciate your concern. Duphaston should be taken only after confirmed diagnosis of low progesterone level during pregnancy. So I advice you to have serum progesterone level checked first. Use of duphaston during pregnancy can lead to serious side effects like fetal death, spontaneous abortion, masculization of female fetus, birth defects like cleft palate and heart defects. Many countries has banned its use during pregnancy. So I advice you not to use without specific indication.
