Is It Safe To Consume Benzonatate 100s Capsules Three Times A Day Along With Zinc Capsules?

I am taking one benzonatate 100s capsules three times a day. Internet information says I could actually take two capsules three times a day. I still have a very bad cough and sneezes, for which I have also been taking zinc. Is any of that dangerous? Thank you.

Hi,

I ran a drug interaction search on Lexicomp and there are no identified interactions between benzonatate and or oral zinc supplements. So that is ok to combine.

The maximum daily dose of benzonatate is 600 mg divided 3x/day, so you can take 100 to 200 mg at a time up to 3 times per day. Benzonatate does not always work for every a cough unfortunately so if it isn't working for you, you may want to discontinue it and try something else.

You mentioned sneezing - are you having a problem with allergies? In that case, treating the upper respiratory symptoms may help a cough, such as with a nasal steroid and/or antihistamine.
