Is It Possible To Stop BP Medicines After Gastric Bypass Procedure?

Hi , I have high blood pressure ...I have had it since the age of 23 now am 44 yrs. I start with one tablet and now I am taking almost 5 tablets a day. NEBILET nebivolol 5mg, TWINSTER 80/10,INSPRA 25mg eplerenone, and last Crestor 20mg rosuvastatin. To be honest I am tired of taking these medicines ...I do understand that I have no option for now that s why I must take them.....but I have been having Gout, muscle pull and these bothers me.4 of my cousins had high blood pressure and diabetes. They went for gastric bypass and now they are not taking any HBP Meds or Diabetes MEDs. I am now 6ft tall 110kgs.I am really considering to go for the procedure because I am tired of taking these medicines. But before I make up my mind I would like to know if there is any other way....?If there is then what is it...?Regards Omar

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible, if your hypertension is linked to your weight then weight loss would cause a reduced need for medication.

Normally weight loss is tried by lifestyle changes first then medication. If these are not successful and the person is in a the obese range, surgery is offered.
Based on your height and weight , your BMI is 30 , this would be classified as obese.

One study showed that just a 10% weight loss can result in significant change.

You can consider speaking to your doctor about your options.

I hope this helps
