Is It Normal For Scrotum To Burn After An Accidental Cut?

hello doctor. i was cutting hair on my scrotum and got slight cut on the skin of scrotum, slight bleeding occured. i applied savlon antiseptic and bleeding stopped but now i am feeling burning sensation on the scrotum. i am very anxious now. please help me

Hi and thank you for your question.

I understand that you would feel quite anxious due to this experience but I would like to put your mind at ease and tell you that you shouldn't worry.

The area is burning because nerve endings have been exposed due to the cut you sustained. Any liquid applied to the area, especially an alcohol based one, will cause the nerve endings to react and therefore burning is experienced.

Try just keeping the area clean with a mild soap and water, it will still cause a light stinging sensation but it won't be as bad as what you've experienced. Dry the area and it should heal nicely on its own.
