Is It Compulsory To Visit Ophthalmologist For Rash Near Eye?

I saw a doctor today for a rash. The doctor believes that it is shingles. The rash is very near my eye. I began taking anti-viral medication and it was recommended that I see an opthalmologist this week. Should I be going to the emergency room to see an opthalologist today or is it fine to wait until the week starts to make an appointment??

Hello
As you mentioned that you are having shingles ( herpes ) just near the angle of eyes .
I have seen that herpes near eyes may involve CORNEA ( sometimes ) so your treating doctor advised you for consultation with an ophthalmologist .
Since you are already taking anti viral drugs , so don't be in panic , rather consult an eye surgeon and get his opinion within 2-3 days .
Good luck.
