Is Intercourse Advisable While Having Burning Sensation In Vagina?

I had sex for the first time a few days ago. Me and my husband had intercourse 3 times within 12 hours and were probably rougher than we should have been the first time. It hurt a little bit the next day (mostly just a burning sensation and it kind of hurt to walk) but the day after that felt better. However, I tried to have sex later that day and it was very painful, even when he only partially penetrated me. I ve read some stuff online that said it could be a tear, but it doesn t hurt when I pee as many people who experience vaginal tears seem to indicate. I am wondering if I could have been not lubricated enough since we didn t do much foreplay the second time, but I just want to make sure I can have sex again without significantly injuring my vagina. I also used the Today Sponge, which is a sponge filled with spermicide that you re supposed to leave in at least 6 hours after having sex so I m wondering if the spermicide has anything to do with it? What can I do to have sex again/make it more comfortable?

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Well, having sex when you have burning sensation in vagina is not good as it can cause mucosal injury and worsen the situation.
For the first few occasions, you might experience pain and burning sensations as you might not get sufficient lubrication. Hence you might spend more time in foreplay and then go for the act.
Also, because of use of Today sponge, as you have mentioned, might have side effect as it may cause allergic reaction when used for first time. If it is causing repeatedly, you may have to discontinue its use.
You can wash the area with warm water and with mild soap or by using V Wash soon after the act. Keep in good hygiene. Avoid intercourse if it is painful or causing discomfort. Give some time to stabilize.
Wish you good health.
