Is Increased Heart Rate A Side Effect Of Taking Lisinopril 10 Mg?

O was put on a very mild blood pressure medication, Lisinopril 10mg, once a day, about 10days ago. I have never taken preach medications before. My blood pressure has come down but my heart rate is in the high 80 s and90 s. Could this be a result of the medication?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Lisinopril is a commonly prescribed blood pressure medicines and it doesn’t cause elevated heart rates. Heart rate varies from time to time and depend on other factors. Anxiety and physical exertion can cause elevated heart rate. You have to make sure that the the elevated heart rate is not transient. If the rate is persistently over 100, you have to consult a physician and evaluate.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
