Is Hip Replacement Surgery Possible Without Making An Incision On The Thigh?

I am preparing for total hip replacement surgery. I am told the surgeon that will do my surgery will make the incision on the back of my thigh and through the muscle. Is it possible to move those muscle to the side without cutting them? I heard if the procedure is done on the front of the thigh this is possible without cutting into the muscle thereby greatly reducing the length of recovery time. Why is that not possible with the incision to the back of the thigh?

Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM
Many hip replacement techniques exist. The choice of method depends on the your Surgeon. However, minimally-invasive quadriceps-sparing total knee replacement may be the best with minimal tissue injury and faster recovery. This is done with an anterior incision.I will also highlight here that you were not told by your surgeon that he will do the surgery through a posterior incition.I will advise you discuss with him to know better and if that is the case, he may tell you the pros and the cons of his method.I will also advise you trust your Doctor since he is an expert in that domain and will not afford to do what is not the best for you.
Hope this will help.
Wish you a successful surgery and feel free to write back if you need more help or clarification.
