Is Hand-foot And Mouth Disease Contagious?

How long will I infect someone by touching them with hand foot and mouth blisters? I have many blisters and I am wondering if it is safe to touch others, it has been about 24 hrs. Since bumps formed it has been like an hour with no response, I have plans so I would enjoy a response soon so I don t go infect half my community.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. Yes, hand-foot-and-mouth disease is contagious. It can be transmitted through direct contact with the skin lesions and surfaces containing traces of the viruses.

I would recommend that you avoid gatherings for 7-10 days. The disease is self-limiting and the lesions will heal in 7-10 days as body's immunity will take control against the virus.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you get better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
