Is electral power (used in india for oral rehydration) safe for a 3 year old child? When i was in the US, i used to be prescribed gatorade, however we are unable to find that here in India and everyone recommends Electral for mineral and salt replenishment. General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Oral rehydration solutions consist of a combination of salts, water, and sugar and are used to replenish fluids and electrolytes that have been lost due to diarrhea and vomiting.
The amount of oral rehydration solution like Electral to be given to 2 years and older is 125 mL to 250 mL every hour.
It is advisable to start by giving small amounts frequently (e.g., 5 mL every 5 minutes) and gradually increase the amount as tolerated.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
