Is Ganton 50 Mg Effective For Duodenal Ulcer?

Sir, I am suffering from duodenal ulcer due to which gastritis attacks me and I feel every time that my stomach is full. I went to the doctor and he prescribed me ganaton 50mg thrice a day and neksium tab twice a day. Please advised me the above dose is the correct dose. In my views, the dose is very high and it should be reduced. Please inform me whether I should take ganaton 50 mg and how much time and is it a good tablet because of itopride salt, because I am already suffering form many other diseases like BP, cardiac problem, arithrities etc.

Hello,

I understand your concern. Ganaton (Itopride) is a relatively new drug that is not yet approved for use in the US and U.K., hence its effects and adverse effects are not yet known. This does not mean that the drug is not safe, only that there is not enough information on it.
Your doctor obviously has enough experience and confidence to prescribe it and if you are happy with the results you should continue taking it, while keeping an eye on your blood pressure and other symptoms. If not, then by all means discuss with your doctor on an alternative. There are many alternatives but knowing your full medical history should give your doctor the confidence to choose the right one for you.

Wishing you all the best
