Is Fluid Around The Optic Nerves A Side Effect Of Wearing A CPAP Machine?

I have seen my optometrist and he diagosed me with fluid around my optic nerve. I had a brain scan for bleeding which came back ok no sign of bleeding. Im scheduled for an ultra sound on the carotid nerve on Tuesday. My question is that I wear a CPAP for sleep apnea and have for years, could this have any reflection on my symptoms. Have not asked my optometrist or internist.

Hi,

Using CPAP machine for a long time can give rise to the problem but the cause of prolonging sleep apnea should be found out which may give rise to other problem. It is not for reference to optometrist internist. Visual acuity is to be recorded if it is alright then optic nerve has not been affected.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
