Is Fever A Result Of Enlarged Mediastinal Lymph Nodes?

hi my son is having fever since last 3 weeks and the same comes in morning when he gets up .during the day it is normal.again it goes up in the evening after 8 pm.

the doctors gv him antibiotic for 2 weeks.recenlty we did his ct scan for chest and abdomen and the result was derived as mildly enlarged mediastinal lymph nodes as described could be suggestive of infective etiology.koch's to be excluded.can you guide us

Hi,

Welcome to HCM. I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Mildly enlarged mediastinal nodes are suggestive of infective cause. It could be a common lung infection due to pneumonia or due to tuberculosis (Kochs). If I were your treating physician I would have ruled out tuberculosis first with sputum tests and a skin test (Mantoux). If these tests are negative I would start on antibiotics for pneumonia and wait for 2 weeks for the nodes to disappear.

Don't worry. This is an easily treatable condition.
