Is Feeling Nauseous Normal After Some Time Of Undergoing A HIDA Scan?

Hi, I had a hida scan today. I felt fine during the test. No pain or nausea, but about 30 minutes afterwards I started feeling really nauseous and it has continued throughout the day. Is this normal? Also since there wasn t any pain or nausea during test, does this mean my gallbladder is okay? Thank you for your help!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Nausea can be possible after the procedure if dye injected for contrast purpose, stress or anxiety of test result; site-specific sickness inducing such changes in many cases.

Current nausea has nothing to do with HIDA scan reports or your gallbladder functioning.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Purva Patel, General & Family Physician
