Is Facial Swelling And Rashes On Hands Due To Metaxalone?

I'm believe that I am having an allergic reaction to metaxalone. I took a pill last night, one today at noon and one tonight at 8 pm. I've noticed a rash on my arm and some swelling and tightness on my face. Similar to a reaction that I got from celebrex a couple of years ago. I just took a benedryl. Is one enough or do I need two. Should I be alright until I contact my doctor in the morning?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Metaxalone is a muscle relaxant and swelling on face along with rash on arm seems to be due to side effect/allergic reaction of the medication and you should stop taking the medIcine and can take anti allergics like Benadryl or Allegra to resolve the symptoms..

Celebrax on the other hand is an non steroidal anti inflammatory painkiller and both these medications belong to different groups..
As of now you can continue taking anti allergics and also do cool compresses over the face..

In case if there is no resolution, consult an Allergist and get evaluated and in case if symptoms are severe he can advise injectable steroids to relieve the symptoms along with oral ant allergcs.

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
