Is Excessive Body Hair On Stomach, Toes And Arms Suggestive Of PCOD?
Hi. I have been curious about my bodily functions. I m 18 and due to certain factors I am afraid to visit an OBGYN, but I am a bit worried about myself. Since I ve been menstrating, my periods have always been irregular so I didn t think much of it until now. I also have excess body hair such as on my stomach, toes, and arms. I was doing research and I think I may have PCOS. I need an opinion though. Thanks ahead of time!!
Hi, I would suggest you to overcome your fear and visit an obstetrician. You have abnormal hair growth that is hirsutism but usually it extends to the face also in polycystic ovarian syndrome. And menstrual irregularities are also present in that condition. I would recommend you to get the investigations as suggested by your obstetrician. Just because the above symptoms are present does not mean that you are suffering from polycystic disease. There might be other reasons for irregular menstruation. Do get evaluated and get a proper diagnosis. It's always better than assuming that you have a disease. You might also be normal. So, book a consultation soon. I hope the above information helps you. Thanks for writing into healthcaremagic.
