Is Consultation Required When With Fatigue, Fluctuating Cholesterol, Chest And Backache?

Hi I have high cholesterol and am on avastatin to lower it. I had a CPK of 400 and am having slight chest & oppsite back pain on & off again not all the time. I seem to be tired all the time & need to take a nap everyday or cant stay awake past 7 PM (wake up 7AM). My husband just had two stents put in 99%blockage in main artery & 85% blocked left artery. My Dr. suggested we wait to see a cardiologist till after the next results come in on the retake of my cholesterol, which came back a little lower on the cholesterol but CPK stayed the same. It was not brought up to see the cardiologist, so I let it go. When my husband was at the hospital I spoke to a cardiologist NP and told her my cholesterol numbers, she suggested to get ahold of my primary to schedule an appointment. My question is do you think with all that I said I should see a cardiologist immediately?

Hello. I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

High cholesterol is a known risk factor for cardiovascular disease and certainly should be addressed, but the symptoms you are describing are not connected to cholesterol levels.
On the other hand atorvastatin which you are taking is known to cause muscle problems which could explain your increased CPK, fatigue and musculoskeletal pain. So if increased CPK levels and symptoms started after beginning atorvastatin then that should be the cause and I think its further use should be reconsidered.
Hope to have been of help. Feel free to ask further questions.
