Is Compression Therapy Advisable For Swollen Ankles In An Heart Patient?

1. my cardiologist added another afternoon diuretic for treatment of cardiomegaly vascular congestion and it worked great for several weeks resulting in the loss of 12-15 lbs and then it leveled off and then within about the same time period i regained all of the weight and my legs and ankels are swollen even more. What would cause this reversal and how should it be managed? 2. How effective is compression therapy for swelling of ankles and legs associated with cardiomegaly and vascular congestion?

Hi,

Compression therapy is not much effective in heart patients. It is better to consult your cardiologist before starting it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshita, Ophthalmologist
