Is Chemotherapy Required When Diagnosed With Invasive Ductal Carcinoma?
I am a 54 year old woman who was just recently diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. I had Ductal Carcinoma insito 15 years ago (age 39) and had a lumpectomy and 30 radiation (maximum) treatments. I have just had a lumpectomy and am now booked for a Modified Radical Mastectomy. Since I cannot have radiation treatments will I automatically have to have chemo? If the lymph nodes come back clear could I possibly not have to have chemo? BTW My father passed from Breast Cancer.

The patient to be operated for modified radical mastectomy will be addressed to chemo with or without radiotherapy as per the biopsy report indicating the stage on histology grounds.
