Is Bleeding After IUD Insertion Normal?

Okay so I just had my baby then at my 6 week checkup I was still barely spotting.. I got iud inserted and the doctor said that I was started to bleed again so he stopped it. I had the regular brown discharge from the cleaner stuff the first couple days.. Then I got pretty decent blood flow since then it s been a week and a couple days.. Is this normal or no?

Hi,

Yes, it is normal to experience bleeding after an IUD insertion, particularly during the first few weeks. The amount and duration of bleeding can vary from person to person. It is not uncommon to have heavier bleeding or spotting for several days to a few weeks after the insertion. However, if the bleeding is very heavy, lasts longer than a few weeks, or is accompanied by severe pain or fever, it is important to contact your healthcare provider as this could indicate a complication.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

It is common to experience some bleeding or spotting after an IUD insertion. This is usually due to the insertion process causing some irritation or trauma to the uterus. However, if the bleeding is heavy or lasts longer than a few days, it is important to contact your healthcare provider to make sure there are no complications. In your case, since it has been over a week and you are still experiencing bleeding, it would be a good idea to follow up with your healthcare provider to rule out any potential issues.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
