Is An Extra Lisinopril Dosage Harmful?

I found a pack of lisinopril 20mg tablets in the floor at grandparents house and I saw him pick something up and I asked what he had and proceeds to him to take thw item away and when did, he told me he already ate one. He said they smelled good and tasted good. What do I need to watch for. What should be my concerns. I am very worried.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Lisinopril is a medication belonging to the class of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor, which is used primarily in treatment of high blood pressure.

Normally, overdosing with another tablet is pretty well tolerated. The most common immediate side effect from overdosing on lisinopril is a drop in blood pressure, which can manifest with fainting, dizziness or extreme weakness.

Primary drop in blood pressure occurs immediately after the lisinopril overdose. Side effects lessen with time and fluids can be given to lessen the impact.

Kindly seek medical attention promptly if you encounter any of the side effects associated with overdose.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
