Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is An Epiglottic Reconstruction Effective In Treatment Of Pneumonia?
My Dad is 72 years old. Stroke victim from diabetic condition which is now stabilized. Pulmonary functions are normal other than reoccurring pnumonia caused by aspiration. Could an epiglottis reconstruction be considered to save his life with a prescription of solar after the procedure, if procedure can be performed after pneumonia is cleared from his lungs.
Based on the history you have shared, flatulence or gastroesophageal regurge like symptoms are usually not detectable on any test except if it is due to some other cause like ulcer or anatomical issues like hiatal hernia or lower esophagus valve opening issues like in achalasia etc.
But most authentic investigation for such long-standing symptoms is upper GI endoscopy. Stool for H. pylori antigen, may be needed.
Meanwhile, antacids like Omeprazole can be continued along with motility agents like domperidone or Itapride as well as sucralfate.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
