Is Alcohol Intake Safe Post Tonsillectomy?

It has been exactly 3 weeks since I had my tonsillectomy (age 27) barely any scabbing left and I'm back to normal eating and not taking any meds at all. No pain. Have a huge party this weekend I need to attend and was wandering if I'm now safe from bleeding so I can drink alcohol. If yes is there a limit I should stick to?

Hi dear ,

The alcohol as such has no direct effect of the wound after tonsillectomy . As after tonsillectomy it takes around one month for complete healing of wound . But intake of alcohol can delay wound healing and lower your immunity , which can create further complications . Wound is very prone to infection when immunity become low , so i would suggest you to completely avoid taking alcohol if possible . Still if you want to take alcohol the do not take more then 60 ml and do not take it chilled .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
