Is Adenoid Surgery Only Solution For Breathing Problems In Kids?
Hi, my child is 4 yrs & 3 months. ENT doctor has suggested for adenoid surgery. He has breathing problem while sleeping. he stops breathing sometimes, he coughs and vomits. it is almost a routine. is it ok for his surgery. Last year he had appendix surgery.

First of all, adenoids are very common in children and they only needs to be taken out if they are causing significant symptoms like difficulty in breathing specially at night (Child sleeps with an open mouth). This alone is a very good reason to perform the surgery as it can improve the quality of life of the child.
If the child is not operated upon, there are chances of developing some serious complications like ear / hearing problems, change in the face / facial development, teeth abnormalities etc. Before performing the Adenoid surgery, just make sure that Surgeon has also evaluated the tonsils. If the child is a candidate for Tonsillectomy then both should be done at the same time.
