Is A Rumbling Stomach Considered Normal, Post A Laparoscopic Surgery For Diverticulitis?

Had laparoscopic surgery for diverticulitis . Sigmoid resection. 12 days ago. Was feeling decent but now I m having gas pain along with rumbling stomach. I m still taking antibiotics. Had slight fever 100.4 yesterday. No fever today. Is rumbling stomach normal?

But equally happy to know that after undergoing an almost major surgery, you are fine.
I read your question completely and have understood it.
Being a surgeon, I have seen many such cases.
Sigmoid Resection itself deals with bowel right, so the rumbling stomach is pretty normal as far as I am concerned.
I suggest you not to worry.
That fever episode is not bothersome if it was just one Spike.

Overall, you are doing well.
You need not worry about rumbling stomach.
And the gas you mentioned, it's a good sign post operatively to pass good amount of gas/flatus.
That is how we rate the success of a surgery.
All surgeons will be happy to hear that you are passing good amount of gas.
So don't worry about it.

Pain is expected and it should settle down..
