I was eating popcorn and got chocked and it cause me to cough hard until I bout lost my breath, then once i caught my breath i went to spit once andvwhen i did it had a very small amount of blood in it, I only spit blood once, do you think it's where I coughed so hard or is it something to worry about
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of little blood in saliva post a cough due to choking is due to foreign body entrapment.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should take anti inflammatory medication such as Levocetrizine. You should use throat lozenges and go rinses with warm saline water. You should take antibiotics such as Levofloxacin or Azithromycin for 5-7 days. You should Chew a Vitamin C pellet. Take decongestants and mucolytic agents. You should get blood test done. You should get an x ray of the chest and pulmonary function tests done as well to know the exact extent of infection and can start treatment accordingly. Gargle with water rinses along with pinch of salt added in it.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
