Is A High BP A Cause Of Concern?

My dad is on bp meds but this morning his first reading was 138/98 with the arm monitor. I took a reading with wrist cuff a minute after and it was 133/84. Then again with the arm monitor and got 136/88, then 118/85, 140/90 and 136/88. Should I be concerned about getting him to a doc right away?

Hello, Thanks for the details you provided. I understand your worries towards your dad's ill health, no one loves the idea of knowing that their loved ones falling ill.
High blood pressure is very common, I diagnose at least 1 patients in every 2 days in my clinic. A person with high BP can live a completely normal life with medications and lifestyle modification. Your father's blood pressure readings you provided are all within the normal range. You should avoid checking blood pressure that frequently as small physical activities can elevate our blood pressure at times which is completely normal. If your Dad can take his medication as prescribed, exercise frequently (at least 30 mins cardio daily) and eat a healthy diet with a reduced salt intake. He will be completely fine. Warm regards
