Is A Dark Knot On The Knee A Matter Of Concern With History Of An Aortic Bypass Surgery?

I have a history of pulmonary disease and I had to have an emergency Aortic bypass about 3 yrs ago, then about 6 months later I had blood clots. I have noticed that in the bend of my knee I have a dark bruise with a hard knot in it. Would this be something that I need to worry about. At this time I have no insurance so I would have to go to ER and I don’t know if I really need to. Thanks

Hi,

First of all you check that you may consuming oral anticoagulants. If yes then get it done prothrombin time or INR value. if it is high then the oral anticoagulant may need to be adjusted.

Also check for other possibilities like Infection or infective endocarditis or knee effusion or Cushing's syndrome or fungal Infection etc. Please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
