Hi,
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concern.
This blood pressure definitely on a higher side,According to recent guidelines your blood pressure should be below 140/90.
You should not worry too much, because your BP is not that much high and can be easily controlled by proper treatment.
If such a blood pressure recording noticed first time in a patient I would put him on antihypertensives like
telmisartan for a short period and reassess the BP after one month.
I would also advice him to practice healthy lifestyle.Avoid fatty food and high calorie diet.Have a diet which has low salt content.Include green leafy vegetables and fruits in your diet.Quit
smoking and have a check on your alcohol consumption.Regular exercises like jogging and cycling would be helpful.Monitor your blood pressure and
lipid profile regularly.
If your blood pressure comes down after few months we can taper the dose of medicine.
I suggest you to consult a physician because antihypertensive drugs are prescription drugs and self treatment is not recommended. And also the doctor may require some baseline investigations before starting antihypertensives.
Hope this information helps.
Please feel free to contact if you have any further queries.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
