General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Glaucoma itself is a cause of concern&needs to be controlled with help of an ophthalmologist. While red sty is due to clogging of oil secreting glands on eyelid. Due to its position focusing for a long time becomes troublesome. Glaucoma and sty are not inter related. As your mother has eye complications.
You can consult her ophthalmologist for care and management but home care with fomentation of sty helps in reduction of pain and size of the sty. Moreover medicinal treatment (local and sometimes oral) helps the process. All of this has to be with regular treatment of glaucoma.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
