Is Zyrtec Drops The Right Medicine For Cough And Breathlessness In A Baby?
my baby is 13 months now, he has been having cough with phlegm for the past week and having trouble breathing properly.. went to the doc and was prescribed dhatalin syrup, it seems like its not working. any other cough syrups that i could buy for eg, zyrtec solution?

Understanding your concern. As per your query your baby have symptoms of cough and breathlessness which is a condition known as severe upper respiratory tract infection. Your baby may have lung infection or bronchitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult pediatrician without any delay. Doctor may order blood test and throat swab test. You should get an x ray of the chest and Immunoglobulin G levels checked for further treatment. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin or penicillin at least for 10 days along with decongestants and mucolytic agents. Zyrtec is the right medication for your condition. Take expectorants. Steam inhalation is very effective for you. For now take rest. Do warm saline gargles with pinch of salt water. Mast cell stablizers such as sodium cromoglycate is effective to prevent infection. You should avoid hot, sharp and spicy foods.
