Is Valsartan 160 Mg Safe To Be Consumed?

I am just starting valsartan for high blood pressure, 160 mg once a day. I m a 76 yr old white male who just had knee replacement 12/7/16 and very active up until than. what must I watch out for as far as side effects? YYYY@YYYY

I understand your concern and would explain that this drug is usually well tolerated at your age.

Anyway, I would recommend checking potassium plasma levels and kidney function tests every 3 months, while taking this drug, because it can increase potassium levels and is not well tolerated in chronic kidney disease.
