Is Urolift Procedure Recommended For A 66-year-old Male?

Greetings, I am to undergo prostatic ultrasound in two days and pending results, may be a candidate for a Urolift system treatment/procedure. I will discuss the options with my doctor if the Urolift is an option, but I am curious how long this device/procedure has been a standard of care and long-term success rate for a typically active 66 yo male. Gracias

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, you need to start Medical therapy first if symptomatic prostatic hyperplasia or urinary obstruction is being experienced.

Alpha-blockers or anti-androgen therapy may be helpful if ultrasound shows increased the weight of prostate or increased post-void urine volumes.

Urolift can be considered in case if severe obstruction not responding to medical treatment and is minimally invasive.

Results are operator dependant so can't be predicted but before TURP it can be an option to bridge towards surgical and medical therapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
