Is Ostarine Advisable While Having Kidney Disease And Proteinuria?

Can I take Ostarine, MK-2866 if I have chronic Kidney Disease, stage 3 and proteinuria? I cannot find any web-based evidence that this supplement will do more damage to my kidneys. My creatinine is 1.7 and I am otherwise a normally healthy male (btw the age of 30-35).

Hi,

Ostarine is not advisable while suffering from chronic kidney disease. Ostarine is a selective androgen receptor modulator used in the treatment of conditions such as muscle wasting and osteoporosis. Since it may cause retention of sodium and water hence it is not advisable to be used while suffering from chronic kidney disease.

Hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi & Welcome.

Ostarine is a selective androgen receptor modulator used in the treatment of conditions such as muscle wasting and osteoporosis.

Regarding its safety and efficacy in patients suffering from chronic kidney disease there is no scientific study done to prove its usefulness.

So, it is better to avoid taking such medication in order to enhance the muscle mass while suffering from chronic kidney disease.

Hope this answers your query.

General & Family Physician Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali's  Response
Hi & Welcome.

It is not safe to take Ostarine while suffering from chronic kidney disease with proteinuria.

Ostarine is a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) recommended for treatment of muscle wasting and osteoporosis. Since its use may result in retention of sodium and water hence it is not advisable to take while suffering from chronic kidney disease.

You should consult your treating doctor for an alternate effective but a safer medication for the muscle growth.

Hope this answers your query.
