Is Methadone Safe During Pregnancy?
Dr Rakhi Tayal, I was reading your response regarding effects methadone in pregnancy and I think you have got it completely wrong!! Methadone is extremely safe in pregnancy and doesn t cause any growth retardation or defects. On the contrary opioid withdrawal in pregnant women can result in miscarriage or IUD. Some new borns can experience opioid withdrawal but it isn t life threatening and can be easily well managed in a hospital setting. I hope in future you will be more cautious in giving advise.
