Is MRI Recommended For Intense Pain In Shoulder And Elbow Along With Neck Stiffness?

I am a 43_year old female who got stiff neck, shoulder, and upper neck back pain with shooting pain thru shoulder to elbow. The pain increases at night. I believe this incident was caused at work moving a 165lb keg. Can an MRI a month after actual injury detect injury

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have intense pain in shoulder and elbow along with neck stiffness . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like arthritis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis ,cervical spondylosis , pinched nerves and spinal cord injury . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may ask you for movement to check mobility , blood test , nerve conduction test and CT scan .Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant along with anti inflammatory and recommend physical therapy and particular stretching exercises . For now take proper rest , do light stretching exercises under expert supervision and apply warm compresses to shoulder and back . Doctor may also refer you to chiropractor for spin problem .
