Is Flagyl Safe To Be Taken When Diagnosed With Hemorrhoids?
Hi, I have been prescribed Flagyl and I became very nausea, and my diarrhea has become worse. I have IBS/diarrhea. I also found out I have a fissual, couple of very large hemmroids which I m told it s a must they come off. 4 months ago I had a colonoscopy and now they are twice their size. Should I continue the pills?
Flagyl can fairly often cause nausea and diarrhea, but whether you should stop or continue the pills depends on the reason you were prescribed them. Hemorrhoids would not be affected by the Flagyl and should not be stopped for that reason. And if you were given the Flagyl because of diarrhea, it may be that the Flagyl is not effective. For example, if you were being treated for Clostridium difficile infection, you may need to be switched to another antibiotic.
In summary, you should discuss this with your doctor because stopping the Flagyl, in case you need another treatment for whatever reason you were prescribed the Flagyl for.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch,
General & Family Physician
