Does duphaston is a birth control pill?i have this hormonal embalance since i have my operation last 2013 and after that i already have that hormonal embalance then my doctor prescribed me duphaston to correct my monthly period...im afraid i might gain weight and i will get fat

Thanks for posting in HCM.
Duphaston tablets contains 'dydrogesterone', which is a synthetic progesterone. It is used to treat a variety of conditions that are as a result of lack of progesterone.
1. Menstrual disorders like, secondary amenorrhoea, dysmenorrhoea (painful periods), premenstrual syndrome and abnormal uterine bleeding.
2. Endometrial disorders like endometriosis, infertility and spontaneous abortion (miscarriage).
As such it is not used as a contraceptive. It helps to regulate the healthy growth and normal shedding of the womb lining.
There is a possibility of weight changes (weight gain) as side effect with the use of duphaston.
