Is Clavam Dry Syrup Right Medication For Elevated WBC Levels In A Toddler?

Hi , My daughter is 3 and half years old. Few weeks back she got measles. After becoming alright one day night she got high fever then lymph nodes in back of ear. Doctor asked us to take blood test in that report her wbc count is 18,000 .it s higher than normal level.doctor said due to infection wbc count will increase in body and he asked us to continue with clavam dry syrup for one week. Please suggest me am in right track?

Yes, you can continue the antibiotic though this would treat bacterial not viral infections. Measles is a virus not a bacteria so the clavum would be helpful if the doctor believes that there is a bacterial infection present as well.

Measles treatment normally consists of drinking a lot of fluids, controlling any pain with paracetamol or ibuprofen and treating any cold like symptoms.

The white cell count would go up with any infection, viral, bacterial, fungal or parasitic.
It would improve when the infection resolves
