Is Cephalexin Effective In Treating Urinary Tract Infection?

I have a urinary tract infection & my doctor prescribed cephalexin for me. I am diabetic and have noticed about 2 days after I started taking this medicine, my glucose seems to be much higher. I just took it and it was 250 and I didn t exceed my carbohydrate limitations today. Would this medicine have anything to do with that?

Hi welcome to HCM....

Cephalaxin can be used in UTI....
But today cefixime like drugs used more as compared to cephalaxin...

Thus drug can't lead hyperglycemia .....
Headache , rashes , allergic reaction. Diarrhea can occur but hyperglycemia not its side effect ....

Complete the course of antibiotic ....

For UTI take more water to dilute urine ..

Cranberry juice extract tablet also useful...

After get rid from UTI , monitor blood glucose level and accordingly regular medication for that taken .....
Because uncontrolled diabetis can be the cause for UTI...
