Is Bentyl Advisable For Chronic Diarrhea?

I am having chronic diarrhea and have been taking Imodium, with little effect. Would Bentyl be a good RX choice for this problem. I have had a recent colonoscopy and they found no tumors or polyps. The MD diagnosed microscopic colitis. I have taken Entecort which helped enormously but it is very expensive and also a steroid, which concerns me. Would appreciate any thoughts.

Hello,

Bentyl act as antispasmodic use for spasmodic pain of the abdomen. It is used temporarily and not permanent use. Microscopic colitis may need to treat with anti-inflammatory and antibiotic drugs. Please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
