Is Bendroflumethiazide The Right Medicine For High BP?
i have been prescribed amlodipine 10mg and bendroflumethiazide 2.5 mg for hypertension. I am male and aged 59. BP was 145/100 and came down to 125/80. I stopped using bendroflumethiazide after I ran out for a week and my doctor noticed that this did not have any effect on my BP so I stopped taking them. However I have noticed that my ankles and especially my calves have swollen quite noticeably. My question is, was the bendroflumethiazide prescribed for high BP or as a diuretic to counteract this common side effect of amlodipine? And should I go back on them? Thank you
